Often the work we do is decorative and defines a room; this is not one of those occasions. In this case, we played the overqualified background singer and designed a subtle, unobtrusive bookcase intended to allow the leather panels, which line the walls of this den, a little breathing room. The piece is backed with grass-cloth wallpaper to soften the contrast with the crisp white paint.
