Sometimes projects require problem solving that has nothing to do with design. These walnut stained bookcases with leather paneled lower doors required a little thinking ahead. Although the freight elevator in this vintage Chicago mid-rise was large, the access to it snaked around the service area and made delivery a challenge. We solved this by making this piece “knock down” - designed to be delivered as a finished stack of stained boards that we re-assembled and installed on site.
